lesson learned...twice

The best line of the day was from Bella or Tess, I can't now remember who it was, but she said, "Here he comes, act natural."

If you can't tell from the photo she was talking about the cop who was about to issue us a ticket. You would not necessarily think I would be laughing at that moment, but when I saw the lights for the second time yesterday, yes you read that correctly, the second time I couldn't do anything, but laugh.

Let me start from the beginning.

Around 10am yesterday morning when I was out doing a few things I should have been doing today (Tuesday's are my errand days), I got pulled over just a few yards away from my destination. The officer must have seen the shock on my face when he told me my car registration was late. I could of sworn it got done, but no, apparently it late as of July. Imagine my frustration and embarrassment (I never do stuff like that). He gave me a ticket which I was so devastated to get, but it didn't hit me as hard as it will when the amount comes in the mail because honestly, in that moment, I think I was more mad than anything that I had to drop what I was doing and go figure it out. Plus I had a brake light out in the back so it wasn't an easy one stop. Bleh!

So I spent my morning getting that taken care of and drove home feeling confident with a sticker to prove it.

Fast forward to yesterday evening when the family was out heading to Gardner Village to see the witches and, yet again, lights flashed in our rear view mirror. Sure enough, he said our registration didn't come up as current. I laughed. Seriously, what are the chances to get hit twice in one day? WHAT ARE THE CHANCES? I was so glad I had taken care of it earlier.

So take it from me and don't forget to register your car. I still can't believe I forgot.

As of today there have been no cop incidences, though funny enough, a cop opened the door for me at Barnes and Noble.

\ˈmāk-ˌshift\ : a usually crude and temporary expedient : substitute

When I woke up this morning I found a pile of shoes stacked up by our back door and no red box to put them in. Wondering where the box went, thinking first of course what my girls had done with it, my eyes were drawn outdoors to something red.

It took me only a few seconds to register what I was looking at and realized, this is Adam's trap for the skunk. A red wooden box held up by a potato masher with a string tied to the end. On the other end is fastened a folded yellow post-it note with peanut butter on top. I would go into how ludicrous I think this is, the first being how trapping a skunk 6 feet from the house is never a good idea, but I think you can see for yourself this was not a well thought out plan. Oh, but I love him for trying.

He may not have caught our skunk, which was most likely for our benefit, but I will say, he did manage to start my day off the best way possible...with laughter. And that's really all that matters...right?

Have a great start to your weekend.

a good laugh

1. "What are the rules? I said & she said, Do exactly what I want whenever I want, make no demands of me whatsoever & love me forever, no questions asked & I said, how do you win? & she said, you don't understand. I'm the only one who wins & then she laughed & clapped her hands. Isn't it a great game? she said." - storypeople

I read this today and it made me laugh out loud. I'm in quite a good mood. It reminded me of Adam and I, the way we joke and knew he would get a kick out of it. So I guess it's for him and anyone else who wants to share it with their significant other and wonder if there's a little bit of truth to it. :)

2. I've decided Modern family is my new favorite show. I think the middle aged father, Phil, is my favorite character. I've been trying to find my favorite clip online, but to no avail so here is one that's pretty funny.

3. This was all followed up by playing pictionary at game night last night and laughing til it hurt at each other interpretations of the word. My proudest moments of the night was when I guessed "hallucinations", however, Adam and I lost big.

Enjoy your weekend!

her show

Adam and I were talking the other night about how we don't have many videos of our kids. We are actually quite disappointed we've missed so many great opportunities to capture them with their funny sayings and personalities. Well, there's no time like the present to get started, after all they are still young. So Thursday while Megan and I played go fish or rather "gold fish" as she likes to call it, she was cracking me up by saying things like "hideous" that I pulled out my Nikon coolpix with the video option and captured the video below. I hesitate to share it because I know I think it's hilarious because she's my child, however, I do realize it may not be funny to anyone else....though by watching it you now may understand what I mean when I talk about her way. Yes, I thought the video was funny, but it was more the way she reacted to it that cracked me up.

[ps this is probably our 8th game of the morning, but our 100th game of the week.]

She loves this video. Loves it. I was working on some tags yesterday and she sat in front of the computer and replayed it over and over. She kept saying, "I want to watch my show". I think we listened to it at least 20 times while she sat there.

It was cute to see her giggling about stuff she would say and it made me happy to think she will have this memory forever. It definitely made me see we have missed out by not pulling out our video camera. I've actually wanted a flip for a while now so maybe I'll invest in one soon.

P.S. After playing 'go fish' all week I have been dying for some new card games. Please share some that would be fun to play with only 2 people. We played war, but it wasn't as fun as I remember and now I wonder if we were doing something wrong.

this girl of mine...

must be stopped.

For the last little while I have found miss megan in the pantry munching on whatever she can find. First she would sneak the cookies down at her level and then every now and then would go in and take a few. I figured out she was doing this when I noticed the cookies were on the lower shelf. So it seems this week she has upped-the-anti and gone for it. Now she just hides in the pantry and eats. When I have lost her the first place I go to is the pantry and she is usually there. I even found 2 binkies sitting on the lower shelf.

Yesterday morning adam and I were talking in the kitchen and we heard a strange crumbling sound coming from the pantry. She was in there door ajar with the lights off eating cookies. It is so hard not to laugh we you see this. She is very ashamed and repeats "sorry mommy" over and over with her hands over her eyes. We have found her with crackers, cookies, and chips. This morning I found her in there with an entire bag of chips. These pictures are from a few days ago when I found her in the pantry eating only the chocolate out of the EL fudge cookies.

Ok, so I am not fool. I do put these good things up higher, but for some reason (reasons I don't know yet) she has been able to get them anyway. I am lost for ideas of how to stop this, I mean I really do feed her all day long so I know she's not starving. I must say I really do get a kick out of it. When I find her in there it is this weird emotion of laughter and frustration. But lately it has turned more into frustration as I don't want this to be a habit. I am willing to give her what she wants I just don't want her trying to hide it. Any ideas?
