a holiday favorite part 2

One of my most favorite things about the holidays are the lights. The lights in your home that make everything seem warmer, the lights outside as you drive around the neighborhood keeping you feeling festive, and of course the lights downtown at Temple Square that make us ooh and ahh and remember the reason for the season.

This year we went with some friends in the neighborhood. They kids are pretty close friends so it was fun to watch them enjoy the lights together. You know how kids are, running around saying things like, "you have to see this, come on!". They even asked me to take pictures of them while we were walking around. It will be nice when they can bring their own cameras along and take their own shots (did I mention Bella and Tess both want a camera for Christmas...love that).

[for all you word lovers out there. This was one of the many lunch sack lanterns they had all lined up. I loved the way they looked and think I will make some for our home. Add that to my list.]

[our friends took this of us]

Megan saw the Christus from the window and wouldn't quite bugging me until we went inside and saw it in person. She is relentless. I hope this isn't bad to share, but I thought it was funny. When Megan saw the statue of Christ she leaned over to me in a whisper and asked, "Why is Jesus' showing his boob?" It took me a while to recover after that one, but quickly explain boys and girls are different. I guess it gets confusing having all sisters sometimes.

It was the most perfect night. No, there was no snow on the ground, but we weren't freeze either. I've done below zero temps before and would take this any day. It was so nice outside after walking around for a while Megan even took off her coat. Crazy.

I really do love that visiting the temple grounds has become apart of our holiday tradition. I'm evening hoping if we have time we will do it again before the year is through.

Amy, I love your blog and your girls are darling. I really like the pictures of temple square...I am getting a camera for Christmas. Could you tell me what you shot with? (Not that me pictures will look like yours!) I am looking at a Nikon D40 or a Canon Rebel XSi. Any suggestions on either one of those or another model? Thanks, Janet (Jen's mom)

Your pictures are fabulous, as always... my pictures of us at temple square DO NOT look like that.

Wow Amy, I love this pictures of temple square. So this is weird....for a couple of weeks, on each of your new posts there has been huge space before you get to the first picture. You have tyo scroll way down to see it. Does that happen to anyone else...or is it just my computer??? It's not like that on anyone else's blog, just yours. Anyway...I thought you might want to know in case there is something wierd happening with you blog! Love ya!

There are beautiful. I am so impressed with your low light shots. I think we are heading up there this weekend and hope the weather isn't too bad.

Oh- and in response to the previous commenter, your pictures look fine alignment wise on my screen.

We are dying to get down there and see the lights. Just tonight Olivia asked me when we're going. I have been waiting until it's closer to Christmas, not a Monday, and not too cold. I know, I'm over-analyzing it! Looks like you guys had fun with your friends. The photos are so cute. Did you get the girls cameras for Christmas? Olivia is getting a cheap one, I am sure she's going to go crazy.

grandma b I love canon so that would be my suggestion. The rebel is a great camera so you can't go wrong. Sounds like Christmas morning is going to be a good one for you.

Tiffinee it only happens in internet explorer and I can't figure it out. I fixed it for a while, but I guess it's not working again. Drat.
